Stone Island
The brand Stone Island was founded in the year 1982 by Massimo Osti. In Ravarino, a small town in Italy, the story of Stone Island began. Here he created a jacket made of truck tarpaulin that was given a special 'Stone-Wash' procedure to get a worn look. 7 coats were made of this and they were named 'Tella Stella'. The jackets were inspired by the look of military uniforms and workwear, then the iconic 'Stone Island badge' was applied. The first collection was released but still needed an important name; Stone Island, the name inspired by the most recurring words in Joseph Conrad's novels. In the year 1993, Carlo Rivetti took over the company together with his sister Christina and he is still responsible for the brand's collections to this day.

The origin of Stone Island
Since the foundation of Stone Island in 1982, the clothing brand has been researching clothing in a laboratory. Experiments and research are carried out in this laboratory so that the tissues and fibers can be improved. The Stone Island lab is known for combining human experience with knowledge. This ensures that they have unique production techniques and materials that have never been seen before in the clothing industry. In the lab of Sportswear Company (the company behind Stone Island) more than 60,000 different fabric compositions have been developed in recent years. Jackets made of thermosensitive fabrics that change color with a decrease in temperature, jackets made of nylon monofilament, derived from the water filter technology of even jackets made of 100% stainless steel. These are just a few examples from Stone Island's vast lab.

Every year during the months of December and January, the Stone Island summer collection starts to be delivered at Boston Trader.
